General Questions

What is telepsychiatry or online psychiatry?

Telepsychiatry is the delivery of mental and behavioral health care services over the internet through secure video calls.  It’s also sometimes called telemental health, online psychiatry, distance therapy, e-therapy, telebehavioral health or simply telehealth.

Psychiatry.Live makes it easy and extremely convenient to get the help you need, when and where it works for you!  Our secure, high-quality video, live online sessions with therapists and psychiatric providers can be accessed from your either your computer, tablet or even your smartphone!  Imagine that!  Fast, convenient connections with your therapist or psychiatrist, from the comfort of your own phone!

Behavioral health providers who offer online sessions include counselors, therapists, social workers, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and psychiatrists with specialized training.

What do sessions on Psychiatry.Live cost?

Cost of sessions on Psychiatry.Live vary based on your visit length, the type of provider you will be seeing and what service you are looking for.  Generally though, telehealth sessions cost about the same as an in-person appointment, but you have the convenience of not having to travel to an office, which saves you time off of work, tolls, gas, commuting frustrations, traffic, etc.  If you have a question about whether your insurance will cover your appointment, we are here to help! You can connect with a member of our care navigation team at 214.744.3363 or [email protected] to discuss what an Psychiatry.Live session will cost for you.

How do telepsychiatry sessions with Psychiatry.Live work?

Getting started is easy.  Once you sign up, you can find a provider by searching our online directory and then book an appointment.  We are actively seeking out more provider staff, and our roster keeps expanding.  You can use the tools within your patient portal to securely message a provider, submit intake forms, do a test call or access additional technical or administrative support. When it’s time for your session, you’ll need to be in a private space with a tablet, smartphone or computer with a web cam to log in for your session. You and your provider will be able to see and hear each other throughout the appointment.

Either before or after your appointment, your provider will charge your credit card for the amount you owe based upon your agreement with your provider.  Psychiatry.Live can also provide you with a bill for you to submit to your insurance company, if applicable.

Why Psychiatry.Live?

There are many reasons people prefer online therapy and/or psychiatric services.

It’s convenient: Be seen when and where it works for you without the hassle of taking time off work or sitting in waiting rooms. Our providers often have next-day appointments and are sometimes available evenings and weekends
Provides options: Find the right provider who fits your needs and preferences — whether or not they live in your community.  Access counselors, therapists and psychiatric providers who are licensed in your state.
Safe and secure: Unlike Skype or FaceTime, our technology is HIPAA-compliant and protects your personal information.
Completely private: Your session on Psychiatry.Live is strictly confidential, from the connection of the devices to the privacy around the provider.  We strongly recommend that you choose a location that is free from unwanted ears or eyes.  Keeping your session private on your end is naturally your responsibility and Psychiatry.Live can not account or be held liable for where you choose to locate yourself during a session.  Psychiatry.Live sessions are held in strict confidence and no part of the discussion or chart will be compromised under normal circumstances.  If however, the provider feels that either yourself or someone else is in danger of any type, then as mandated reporters, it is our duty to help ensure the safety of that party.  This may include calling the police, or ambulance or otherwise ensuring that that party is able to maintain their own safety.

At Psychiatry.Live, we encourage family involvement and welcome invitees to your sessions.  You have control over whether you invite family or friends to join your online video call.
Easy to use: The Psychiatry.Live session works on any computer, tablet or smartphone with internet and a webcam.  Plus, we offer support for tech issues, test calls and troubleshooting.
Flexible scheduling: Weekdays a no-go? Need to do a session after the kids go to bed? No problem.  Just ask about our after-hours appointments, which vary at times depending upon availability of providers — and it often only takes a few days from your request before you can meet with a provider.
